Journal
We learned about how the network works connecting to the internet. The steps that takes from the computer to the internet. Physical, Data link, and network DHCP.I took screen shots the ip address which is the phone number for a network. We learned how to look up the default gateway codes, the network ip codes, and the DNS server numbers. There are screen shots of all provided below.

Activity 3 Journal 1/27/10
A computer has a hardware. It has input and output devices. Such as bluetooth and Ethernet. A computer has operating systems and network applications. A operating system responsible for the management and coordination of activities and the sharing of the resources of a computer.
Input and Output Devices
Input devices are Ethernet wires, keyboard, and mouse.

Journal entry
I got a graphics comparing OSI and TCP. Then I wrote the definitions of each word. The importance of that is so I know what those words mean behind OSI and TCP. I know know that the OSI layer is the closest to the user and it provides network services. The primary model for networking is the OSI reference model; and that describes of how data and information move from computer to computer. What they have in common is the layers. A difference is that TPC appears simple because it has less layers. The TCP/IP combines all application issues into one layer.
Definitions
OSI physical- The Physical layer is responsible for the ultimate transmission of data over network communications media. It operates with data in the form of bits that are sent from the Physical layer of the sending (source) device and received at the Physical layer of the destination device
Data link-is an information storage architect. We help organizations analyze, design, implement, manage and support customized data storage solutions.
Network-The Network Layer is responsible for end-to-end packet delivery including routing through intermediate hosts
The network layer is a complex layer that provides connectivity and path selection between two end systems that may be located on geographically diverse networks.
Transport-movement of information from one place to another
Application Layers-a term used in categorizing protocols and methods in architectural models of computer networking. Both the OSI model and the Internet Protocol Suite (TCP/IP) contain an application layer.
